Triple Chocolate Cream Pie

The most decadent pie loaded with chocolate, a variety of texture and requires no baking.  Triple Chocolate Cream Pie is made with a chocolate cookie crust, homemade chocolate cream filling and finishing with a chocolate whipped cream because three times the chocolate is way more fun!  

Ingredients

Oreo Crust
2 Cups Oreos, Crushed
4 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter, Melted 

Chocolate Cream Filling
1 ½ Cup Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips
2 ½ Cup Heavy Cream
8 Egg Yolks
½ Cup Granulated Sugar
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
½ teaspoon Salt 

Chocolate Whipped Cream
2 Cups Heavy Cream
¼ Cup Powdered Sugar
4 Tablespoons Cocoa Powder 

Instructions

Prepare the Oreo Crust

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the crushed oreos and the melted butter and mix until fully combined 
  2. Press the oreo crust into a 9 inch pie dish until it is evenly distributed on the bottom and the sides of the pie dish
  3. Place the oreo crust in the refrigerator while preparing the chocolate cream filling 

Prepare the Chocolate Cream Filling 

  1.  In a medium bowl, whisk together egg yolks, granulated sugar, vanilla extract and salt; set aside 
  2. In medium saucepan heat the heavy cream until it comes to a simmer 
  3. Add the semisweet chocolate chips to the heavy cream and whisk until smooth 
  4. Slowly pour the chocolate mixture into the egg yolk mixture, continuously whisking until fully combined 
  5. Pour the custard back into the saucepan and on low heat continue cooking and stirring the custard until it is thick and coats the back of a wood spoon (approximately 5 minutes)
  6. Strain the custard through a fine sieve 
  7. Pour the Chocolate Cream Filling into the Oreo Crust and allow it to cool completely
  8. Refrigerate the Chocolate Cream Pie for 4-6 hours or overnight to allow the custard to set completely

Prepare the Chocolate Whipped Cream 

  1. In a mixing bowl with whisk attachment, combine the heavy cream, powdered sugar and cocoa powder and whisk until the heavy cream becomes thick and starts to form ribbons 
  2. Spread the Chocolate Whipped Cream on top of the chilled Chocolate Cream Pie and garnish with chocolate shavings and serve!
