Ingredients

Simple Syrup

  • ½ Cup Granulated Sugar
  • ½ Cup Water
  • Lemon Peel

French 75 Cocktail

  • 1 ½ Ounces Gin
  • ¾ Ounce Lemon Juice Fresh Squeezed
  • ½ Ounce Simple Syrup
  • 2 Ounces Champagne Chilled
  • Lemon Twist or Sprig of Thyme for Garnish

Instructions

Simple Syrup

  • Combine the granulated sugar, water and one piece of lemon peel into a small sauce pan and bring to a simmer
  • Continue simmering until the granulated sugar has dissolved
  • Remove the syrup from the stove and allow it to cool completely
  • Pour the syrup into a jar and store in the refrigerator until ready to use
  • Once you use the syrup for the cocktail, save the remaining syrup for another cocktail (this will stay in the refrigerator for 2 weeks)

Classic French 75 Cocktail

  • In a champagne glass, combine the Gin, lemon juice and simple syrup and gently stir
  • Top the glass off with the champagne and a sprig of thyme or a lemon twist
  • Serve immediately! Enjoy!
