Ingredients You Need To Make Homemade Popsicles
Made with six ingredients, fresh fruit, honey, yogurt and milk, homemade popsicles are a perfect treat for you and your littles! Strawberries, one banana and raspberries are the base for this recipe. Once these three are added to your blender you will need honey for a natural sweetener, greek yogurt to add a creamy texture and milk. You can choose any milk of your choice, but I prefer cows milk or almond milk!
How To Make Homemade Popsicles
Homemade popsicles are one of the easiest and fun recipes that you and your kids can make together. With only a few ingredients, popsicle molds and being patient for them to freeze, you will have a delicious and healthy snack (or breakfast) that the whole family will love.
In a blender combine the strawberries, raspberries, yogurt, milk and honey and blend until smooth. Pour the blended fruit into popsicle molds, place the ice cream sticks into each slot and place the lid on the ice cream mold. Once the mold is filled, freeze the popsicles until solid, approximately 6-8 hours or overnight.
Helpful Tips and FAQ’s
- I like using fresh fruit for this recipe, but you can always use frozen fruit. Using frozen fruit might cause the popsicles to be a little more icy then creamy, but they will still taste delicious!
- There are a lot of different popsicles molds, but if you don’t have a popsicle mold you can use small cups instead
- Need more veggies in your life? Adding a hand full of spinach to this Strawberry Banana Smoothie Popsicle is a great addition and will not add any flavor, just more vitamins!
- This is a great recipe for your kids to help out with. Mine love to make smoothies and now they are obsessed with making their own popsicles.
- If you prefer a dairy free option, replace the cows milk with almond or oat milk and use a dairy free yogurt substitute.
How Long To Freeze Popsicles
Homemade popsicles usually take about 6-8 hours to freeze completely, but I like to make them the day before so that I am 100% sure they will be ready when I need them.
How To Unmold Frozen Popsicles
Once the popsicles are made and in the freezer, the next question is how to I get the popsicles out of the mold. While it is super simple, there is a trick that makes it even easier. Once the popsicles are frozen, run hot water on the popsicle mold for a few seconds, but make sure that the water does not get into the mold and touch the popsicles. Gently pull on the stick and the popsicle should slide right out. This process can be repeated if it doesn’t come out easily the first time, just be sure you don’t completely melt the popsicle!
