Parties are kind of my love language, the planning process to the day of the event, I get super excited and into every detail. Food is a big part of every celebration and it is one of the pieces that your guest will remember the most. The birthday cake is always the focus, but creating simple treats to go along with it will be a huge hit!

Party Snack Mix is one of those recipes that will be the buzz of the party and will be remembered forever after. This is one of the most simple recipes and was first created for my daughters Ice Cream and Paint Party but a recipe that I get asked for every time I make it. It has all the nostalgic kid favorites but with a gourmet flavor; from the sweet and salty kettle corn popcorn, the kids friendly Chex and Lucky Charm Cereal to the salty pretzel sticks and festive rainbow sprinkles, this Party Snack Mix is not missing a thing.

    Ingredients

A bowl of chex cereal, popcorn, pretzel sticks, white chocolate, lucky charm cereal and sprinkles.

Chex Cereal-The base for this party snack mix, Chex cereal adds the perfect crunch!

Kettle Corn Popcorn-I love the salty sweet combination of kettle corn popcorn, but simply salted popcorn works great.

Pretzel Sticks- The pretzel sticks add the perfect amount of salt to this sweet mixture. If you want to make this gluten free just replace the pretzels with gluten free pretzels!

Lucky Charms Cereal-A fun and festive add in to this party snack mix, but can also be replaced with cheerios for a gluten free option.

Coconut Oil- The coconut oil is an add in to the white chocolate to thin it out and make it much smoother to mix in with all the ingredients. If you white chocolate melts and is very thin then you can eliminate this ingredient.

    Step-by-Step Instructions

six photos showing the process to make party snack mix

Prepare one baking sheet with parchment paper; set aside

In a large bowl, combine the Chex, popcorn, pretzel sticks and lucky charms cereal; set aside

In a small microwave safe bowl, combine the white chocolate and coconut oil and melt for thirty second increments. Stir in between until the white chocolate is fully melted and smooth.

Pour the melted white chocolate over the cereal mixture and gently stir until all pieces are coated in white chocolate

While the white chocolate is still wet, add the rainbow sprinkles and gently stir to coat all the pieces with sprinkles

Pour the mixture onto a prepared baking sheet and spread out to allow the white chocolate to harden.

Transfer the Party Snack Mix into a serving bowl or store in an air tight container until ready to serve!

    Party Tips and FAQ's

    • Make sure to make this the same Day or the night before you are going to serve it. It still tastes great a few days later, but some of the crunch goes away!
    • If you white chocolate is very thick, make sure to add the coconut oil to thin it out which will allow it to mix and spread evenly throughout the party snack mix. This method is an alternative to tempering chocolate.
Can This Party Mix Be Made Gluten Free?

Yes! In order to make this mix gluten free you need to replace the pretzels with gf pretzels and replace the lucky charms cereal with cheerios and you are all set!

    Can I substitute other ingredients?

The best part about this snack mix is that there is no exact science to make it and you can be super creative and make it your own!

It was a hit at my son’s 8th birthday party. I put it in mason jars with labels of the kids names and handed them out as favors. I added marshmallows to one batch and skipped the lucky Charms. I made one where I added peanuts. Yum!
