We all love an easy and delicious appetizer that is also festive! I am excited to start sharing some of my favorite snack, starters and appetizers that go perfectly with my cocktails and desserts and these Prosciutto Parmesan Twists are a great way to begin.

Easy appetizers are a must during the hustle and bustle of the holidays and this puff pastry tree is made with only four ingredients and can be assembled in ten minutes. If you want to save your self some prep time, prepare and shape the tree several hours before the party starts and then remove it from the fridge and bake right before serving.

    Ingredients

A wood board with a tree shaped puff pastry with fresh herbs next to it.

Puff Pastry- Frozen puff pastry is easy to find and makes a great appetizer. Make sure to start with 2-10 inch square pieces to create this perfect tree!
Olive Oil- Extra virgin olive oil adds a nice flavor and savory touch to the puff pastry. Melted butter is also a good option to brush on to the dough if you don't have olive oil.
Parmesan Cheese- Make sure to grab shredded parmesan to keep this a quick and easy appetizer
Prosciutto- Pick a good quality thinly sliced cured ham
Herbs- A perfect garnish, fresh rosemary or thyme can be sprinkled on right before serving.

    Step-by-Step Directions

    • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper
    • Lay 2 defrosted square of puff pastry on the counter and using a pastry brush, brush each side with a light coating of olive oil
    • Place one puff pastry sheet on a baking sheet and sprinkle the shredded parmesan to cover one side of the puff pastry sheet
    • Lay the prosciutto over the parmesan to evenly cover the top
A gold baking sheet with layers of puff pastry, parmesan cheese and prosciutto, next to an unbaked tree shaped puff pastry with fresh herbs next to it.
    • Place the second sheet of puff pastry on top of the prosciutto
    • Cut the layered puff pastry into a triangle and cut strips on each side of the triangle leaving the center attached

    • Twist each piece to create a tree and press the ends together to prevent the puff pastry from separating
    • Bake the Prosciutto Parmesan Puff Pastry Tree for 25 minutes or until the dough is light golden brown and baked throughout
    • Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh thyme and rosemary and serve immediately

Tips To Make the Best Prosciutto Parmesan Twist

    Prepare In Advance
Although these need to be served right after baking, you can prepare and shape the puff pastry several hours in advance and place it in the refrigerator covered with plastic wrap until you are ready to bake and serve.

    Serve These All Year Long
Christmas is over and you want to keep serving these, here is what you do. Shape these Prosciutto Parmesan Twists into straws by cutting strips of the dough once it is layered and twist each piece individually.

        Hi Victoria,

Yes, this recipe is perfect to assemble in advance, wrap and plastic wrap and bake when you are ready to serve it. I would not recommend making it more than a day in advance as the puff pastry will dry out.

        Enjoy it!
