Refreshing, easy to sip and the most beautiful color, Strawberry Gin and Tonic is a spring cocktail made in less than five minutes and with only three ingredients.
Heading into spring and warmer weather I love creating a super simple and quick cocktail that can be made easily when entertaining. Gin and Tonic is a classic cocktail along with an Elderflower Old Fashioned and The Perfect Paloma that has proven itself to be a happy hour favorite.
Strawberry Gin and Tonic takes a classic and adds a spring twist that creates a beautiful and refreshing drink to sip on. Use your favorite gin, tonic water and a homemade strawberry simple syrup, your bar will be stocked and ready to host.
Ingredients
Strawberry Simple Syrup
Granulated Sugar- the sweetening agent to make simple syrup
Water- one of two ingredients to make simple syrup, it keeps the sugar from burning and creating a syrup instead of a caramel
Strawberries- Adding a fresh fruit to simple syrup creates a pure flavor and a beautiful color
Strawberry Gin and Tonic
Tonic Water- A carbonated water that could have a slight bitter flavor but pairs perfectly with gin and lime
Gin (Empress Gin for Blue Color)-A distilled alcoholic drink that is popular for a variety of mixed cocktail. Adding Empress Gin to your next drink will create a beautiful purple or blue hue that will make your cocktail extra special
Garnish-Each cocktail needs a fancy garnish to finish off the drink. Lime Slices, Fresh Thyme Sprigs or Fresh Mint add a fresh and fragrant addition that you will love

Recipe FAQ's and Expert Tips
Where Does The Color Come From?
Empress Gin is made from butterfly pea blossoms which gives it a natural indigo hue, it is also gluten free
Make It a Classic
If you prefer a classic Gin and Tonic, you can remove the strawberry simple syrup and add ½ ounce of fresh lime juice
Tonic Water
Make sure to use a good quality tonic water, not all are created equal. Tonic water is made with quinine, which comes from the bark of a cinchona tree in South America and can leave a bitter flavor. It also contains sugar or other sweeteners so it is best to find a naturally sweetened tonic water made with the best ingredients. Q Tonic is a great brand to use and has a variety of flavored tonic waters and is sweetened with organic agave in much smaller amounts.
Save The Simple Syrup
If you have simple syrup left over, seal it in a jar and keep it refrigerated for up to one month and can be enjoyed in all your cocktails or can be used to make a strawberry lemonade!
