This has been the year of the Espresso Martini and I am here for all of it! I am a lover of coffee in the morning, but I have discovered my love for this wake me up cocktail in the evening and making it a little dirty for the holidays.

Dirty Chai Espresso Martini is a classic Espresso Martini with the addition of the most delicious chai tea simple syrup. This is such a fun way to create a cozy and winter cocktail that is perfect to share throughout the holiday season. Homemade Chai Tea simple syrup is so easy to make with only a few ingredients and paired with your favorite vodka, Kahlúa and a strong shot of espresso. You are in for a real treat!

If you love adding a spiced flavor to cocktails and baking as much as I do you much try our most popular Spiced Cranberry Paloma Cocktail paired with our Chocolate Chai French Macarons.

    Ingredient Notes

A glass jar filled with a light brown liquid.

    Chai Tea Simple Syrup
Made with only three ingredients; sugar, water and chai tea bags, this simple syrup is the perfect addition to this Espresso Martini and so many other holiday cocktails. When you make the simple syrup, you will have extras to enjoy so be sure to refrigerate it and it can last for up 2 weeks.

    Vodka
Choose your favorite vodka for this cocktail. Another fun addition is adding a vanilla vodka for an extra boost of flavor.

    Kahlúa
Adding more coffee flavor to this amazing cocktail, Kahlúa is a great addition that you don't want to skip.

    Espresso
There are a few options that you can use to make this espresso martini rich and decadent with the best coffee flavor. I love using my Nespresso espresso pods to get a great quality espresso shot, but I have also used a cold brew coffee when I am serving a larger crowd. This is a great option and tastes amazing.

    Step-by-Step Instructions

A glass filled with a brown liquid topped with a star anise.

    Chai Simple Syrup

    • In a small saucepan combine the sugar, water and chai tea bags and bring to a simmer
    • Once the sugar is dissolved, remove the pot from the heat and allow the tea bags to steep for 10 more minutes
    • Remove the tea bags from the syrup and pour the chai simple syrup in a jar and refrigerate until ready to use
    • (You will have extra simple syrup to make more cocktails! You can keep this syrup for two weeks in the refrigerator)

    Dirty Chai Espresso Martini

    • In a cocktail shaker, combine the vodka, kahlua, chai simple syrup, espresso and ice
    • Shake vigorously for 1 minute and then pour the cocktail into a martini glass or a coupe.
    • Serve immediately! Enjoy!

Make an Chai Espresso Martini For A Crowd

This is the perfect cocktail to make for a crowd and a great way to end the night! If you are going to make this for a crowd, I prefer to use a cold brew coffee and mix everything in a pitcher. When you are ready to serve it is best to still fill a cocktail shaker with ice and shake each glass to get some ice chips and the foam topper.
