There is nothing better than homemade baked tortilla chips and when they are shaped as hearts, I am in love!

Homemade Heart Tortilla Chips are made with three simple ingredients and in under 20 minutes and you will have the most delicious crisp chips for your favorite salsa, guacamole, served on a charcuterie board or even the base of your favorite nachos!

    Ingredients

Corn tortillas next to a bowl of oil, course sea salt, a heart cookie cutter and a pastry brush.

    Tortillas-White or yellow corn tortillas!
Oil- Avocado oil is my preferred oil, but you can use vegetable or olive oil. I love using the Pure Avocado Oil Spray to make it much easier then brushing each piece.
Salt- Sprinkle as much or as little course sea salt as you like. If you don't love the crunch, you can use regular table salt as well!

    Step-by-Step Directions

Rows of heart shaped tortillas before baking.
    • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F
    • Cut the tortillas in hearts using a heart shaped cookie cutter
    • Place the tortillas on a baking sheet and spray or brush each side of the heart shaped tortillas with avocado oil and sprinkle one side with course sea salt
Baked heart shaped tortilla chips on a paper towel on a plate.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-13 minutes or until the tortillas are light golden and crisp
    • Remove the baked tortilla chips from the oven and place each piece on a paper towel to soak up the extra oil
    • Allow them to cool completely before serving or storing

Cooking Tips and FAQS For Baked Tortilla Chips

    Brush or Spray Oil
Make sure to not over oil the tortillas so that they will be crisp! I love using Pure Avocado Oil Spray so that there is a light mist over all the tortilla hearts, but you can brush each tortilla with oil before cutting into the desired shape as well.

    Storing Homemade Baked Tortilla Chips
Once the tortilla chips are cooled, store them in a large ziplock bag for up to 3 days for the freshest flavor.

Are these baked tortilla chips gluten free?

Pure corn tortillas are naturally gluten free, so be sure to look at the ingredients and grab the tortillas that 100% corn.

Why are my tortilla chips soggy or chewy?

If you add to much oil to the tortillas they will not crisp up. Once they are baked, place them on a paper towel to soak up any extra oil and this will help keep them crisp.

      5 stars
A zillion thank yous for this recipe. I needed something for a Valentine's Day potluck tomorrow and had very little time and energy to make something tonight. These took no time, taste great, and are so cute. I'll serve them with a super easy red kidney bean dip. You have saved the day.

Can these be frozen? If so, for how long? My daughter is getting married in September and we would like to have a seven layer dip in little small cups with heart-shaped tortilla chips.

I have not frozen these chips and would be worried they would lose their crisp. Might be best to make fresh!
