After making these super easy Soft and Chewy Chocolate Chip Blondies three times in one weekend, I decided it was time to share this recipe with you. There is so much to love about this recipe and one that will be enjoyed over and over again in your household.
If you are a lover of Bakery Style Chocolate Chip Cookies or even fun and festive Snickerdoodle Blondies, you will love these because they are made in a bar form and quick and easy to make, a bake time of 20 minutes and ready to serve in no time. Chocolate Chip Blondies are perfect for kids and adults and made even better with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Ingredients
Flour- Basic all purpose flour is all you need to make these delicious blondies.
Baking Soda- Allowing the blondies to rise, baking soda is the only leavening agent in this recipe. Make sure to check the expiration date of your baking soda to ensure that it is fresh.
Cornstarch- Giving the blondies a thick and super soft consistency.
Butter-Melted unsalted butter is going to make these blondies extra soft and chewy.
Brown Sugar- Light brown sugar is the sweetener for these blondies. Adding brown sugar instead of granulated sugar will add flavor depth because of the molasses in the brown sugar.
Eggs-One egg and one egg yolk!
Chocolate-I love the combination of semi sweet chocolate and milk chocolate for a rich and decadent blondie
Step-By-Step Instructions

- In a medium bowl combine the flour, baking soda, cornstarch and salt; set aside
- In a mixing bowl with paddle attachment, combine the melted butter and light brown sugar; mix on medium speed until creamy and fully combined
- Add the egg, egg yolk and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and continue mixing until combined
- Add the flour mixture into the butter mixture and mix on medium speed until the dough comes together
- Fold the semisweet and milk chocolate chips into the dough
- Press the blondie dough evenly into the prepared square pan
- Bake for 20-22 minutes or until the top is a light golden brown; remove the blondies from the oven and slightly sprinkle the top with course sea salt for a salty sweet finish!
- Allow the blondies to cool completely before removing them from the pan, approximately 30-45 minutes (refrigerate the blondies if you need them to cool faster)
- Remove the blondies from the pan and cut them into 16 square pieces
Tips and FAQS To Make The Best Blondies
- Melted Butter Make sure to use melted butter in this recipe to ensure that the texture stays super soft and chewy
- Chocolate Chips You can stick with just semi sweet chocolate chips or change it up with half semi sweet chocolate half milk chocolate chips or add in white chocolate chips! Have fun and be creative!
- Salty Finish Course sea salt is optional after the blondies are baked but it really does make these bars so much better!
I wouldn't! The cornstarch really helps with the texture of these blondies, making them extra soft and chewy.
Once the blondies are baked, you can wrap the 9 inch square in plastic wrap and then freeze the whole thing to use and enjoy at a later time or if you are serving the next day just keep the blondies wrapped and left at room temperature until you are ready to serve.
Store the Soft and Chewy Chocolate Chip Blondies in an airtight container or zip log bag and store on your counter if you have lefter over and want to save them to enjoy throughout the week.

My daughter requested chocolate chip cookie cake for her 9th birthday. I searched the internet but wasn't excited about most of the recipes I read. But then I saw this one... WOW! It was very simple to make (even with my 11- and almost-9-year olds helping). I don't have a paddle mixer so I got a great workout mixing everything and then folding in the chocolate chips. We might have gone a little heavy handed with our mix of semi and milk chocolate chips but the end result was delicious. I baked it for almost 25 minutes and then kept it in a warm oven covered in foil (just put it in the off oven after the roasted broccoli came out) through dinner. Served it warm and all family members LOVED it! My brother-in-law even said it might be the best dessert he's ever had! (I think he especially enjoyed the sea salt sprinkle). We will have it again soon - ala mode! This will become a staple in my household - easy and amazing!
