The seasons are changing and we are headed straight into fall flavors. Apple Cider is a popular ingredient in baking and creates a perfect flavor for cakes, cupcakes and donuts and the most delicious Apple Cider Snack Cake. Super easy to make and can be enjoyed for a casual snack or dessert!
Before we get into pumpkin everything, I am truly enjoying slowly adding fall flavors into our daily routine while sipping on my favorite Apple Cider Aperol Spritz or Bourbon Apple Cider Fizz.
Ingredients
Flour No need for any fancy flour, just all purpose flour will be great for this recipe
Baking Powder and Baking Soda Both leavening agents are used in this cake for a light and fluffy texture
Cinnamon Ground cinnamon will add an extra spice flavor to the delicious spiced apple cider
Butter Unsalted butter at room temperature
Brown Sugar The most delicious flavor and moisture is added to this cake using light brown sugar
Apple Sauce- Added for moisture and another pop of apple flavor
Spiced Apple Cider Cider not vinegar!!! This can easily get confused but will taste terrible if you make this mistake. Spiced Apple Cider is apple juice that has been boiled with mulling spiced and reduced to create a thicker more flavorful cider
Maple Syrup 100% Pure Maple Syrup is the only way to go! The flavor will create the perfect sweet glaze
Directions
Prepare the Apple Cider Snack Cake
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and prepare a 9 inch square cake pan with pan spray and lightly coated in flour
- In a medium bowl combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and cinnamon; set aside
- In a mixing bowl with paddle attachment, cream together the butter and light brown sugar until light and fluffy
- Whisk together the eggs and unsweetened apple sauce and add the mixture to the creamed butter and sugar; continue mixing until fully combined
- Start adding the dry ingredients to the mixing bowl, alternating with the spiced apple cider; repeat until all ingredients are incorporated and fully combined
- Pour the Apple Cider Snack Cake batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 35-40 minutes or until the cake springs back at the touch or a cake taster comes out clean
- Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool while preparing the Maple Glaze
Prepare The Maple Glaze
- Place the powdered sugar in a medium bowl; set aside
- In a small saucepan, combine the maple syrup and butter and heat on medium until the butter is fully melted
- Remove the saucepan from the heat, add in the vanilla extract and then pour the mixture over the powdered sugar
- Whisk vigorously until the glaze is smooth and shiny (if you want the glaze to be thicker, add more powdered sugar at this time)
- Spread the Maple Glaze over the top of the Apple Cider Snack Cake
- Allow the glaze to set for 10 minutes before cutting and serving

Room Temperature Ingredients
Make sure that all your ingredients are at room temperature before starting. This will ensure that every things mixes well and bakes evenly!
Spiced Apple Cider
This is very important…do NOT use Vinegar!! This cake is made with Spiced Apple Cider and will taste really bad if made with apple cider vinegar! If you cannot find Spiced Apple Cider, regular Apple Cider will work great as well!
Maple Glaze
The most amazing glaze and made with only four ingredients! Make sure to use 100% pure maple syrup for the best flavor. Adjust the thickness of the glaze by adding more or less powdered sugar!

Apple Cider Snack Cake
- 2 ¼ Cup All Purpose Flour
- ¾ Teaspoon Baking Powder
- ¼ Teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1 Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
- 12 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter Room Temperature
- 1 ¼ Cup Light Brown Sugar
- 2 Eggs

- 1 Cup Spiced Apple Cider
Maple Glaze
- ⅓ Cup Pure Maple Syrup
- 2 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter
- 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 1-1 ½ Cups Powdered Sugar add more to make it thicker
Instructions
