A perfect way to fancy up your favorite cocktails and add a fall twist to a classic, Spiced Simple Syrup is a quick and easy addition that you will love to keep on hand all season long! Making and creating cocktails is always fun to do, but a key ingredient that we don't always have on hand is simple syrup. This is going to add a touch of sweet to your favorite drink and is a great ways add a delicate infused flavor. The base of simple syrup is made with two ingredients, but can be infused with fruits, herbs, spices and so much more.

Use this simple syrup in some of our favorite cocktails, like our Spiced Cranberry Paloma or add a fall touch to our favorite Elderflower Old Fashioned.

    Ingredients

A bowl of granulated sugar surrounded by cinnamon sticks, anise, cloves and allspice.

Granulated Sugar-The perfect amount of sweet comes from this simple syrup because of the granulated sugar. You don't want to substitute any other sugar for granulated sugar.
Water-Equal parts water to sugar is the key to making the perfect syrup.
Spices- You can definitely add your favorite fall spices, but I am loving the combination of cinnamon sticks, star anise, cloves and whole allspice.

    Directions

A small saucepan with granulated sugar and water.
    • In a small sauce pan combine the granulated sugar and water
A small saucepan with granulated sugar, water, cinnamon sticks, anise and allspice.
    • Add the cinnamon sticks, star anise, whole cloves and whole all spice into the sugar water combination
    • On medium heat, bring the sugar, water and spices to a simmer until all the sugar is dissolved and has slightly thickened
    • Remove the Spiced Simple Syrup from the stove and allow it to cool for 10-15 minutes before pouring it into a jar to store it.
    • Pour the syrup into a jar and refrigerate until ready to use

Tips and FAQS To Make The Best Simple Syrup

    • Classic Simple Syrup is a combination of equal parts granulated sugar and water. There is nothing else you need to create the base that is perfect for all cocktails.
    • Make It A Gift Fall Spiced Simple Syrup would be a wonderful gift to give for your favorite foodie. Swing Top Bottles are a great way package the syrup up and add a fun holiday gift tag and you are all set.
How long can I store simple syrup for?

Basic simple syrup can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 weeks, but flavored syrups can last for 1-2 weeks in the refrigerator.

Can I Make Different Simple Syrup Flavors?

Yes! The base of simple syrup is always the same, equal parts sugar and water. If you want to infuse different flavors in the simple syrup, place the fruit, herb or spice in the sauce pan while it is boiling to infuse the flavor.
