I am not sure that I remember how much I love Rice Krispie Treats until I had kids. I know I enjoyed them as a kids, but I think I am loving them even more now as an adult. We make these gooey, crunchy and sweet treats for almost every event and they are always the first dessert to go. The Ultimate Rice Krispie Treats are better than the rest, made with extra marshmallows, extra butter, a dash of vanilla and a pinch of salt.

If you love Rice Krispie Treats as much as we do, you have to try some of our other favorite flavors like Cookies and Cream Rice Krispie Treats, Chocolate, Strawberry or for the holiday spirit, White Chocolate Peppermint Treats.

    Ingredients

A bowl of rice cereal, marshmallows, vanilla extract and cubed butter.

Unsalted Butter- More butter the better! These have extra butter that make them so delicious and creamy.
Mini Marshmallows-There are two additions of mini marshmallows that make these treats so delicious. The first addition is to melt the marshmallows with the butter and the second is to fold them in at the end so they stay whole.
Vanilla Extract- A dash of vanilla extract will make these kid friendly treats a little more gourmet.
Salt- Did you know that salt enhances all flavors? A dash of salt with all the sweet will really make the flavors pop!
Rice Krispie Cereal-The famous ingredients that are so versatile. Always make sure to have this cereal on hand for a last minute batch of these sweet treats.

Tips and FAQS To Making The Best Rice Krispie Treats

    Check The Expiration Dates
One of the most important things to check is the expiration date of the marshmallows. If the marshmallows are expired, they will not melt correctly and will be super gummy causing your treats to have a terrible texture.

    Brown The Butter
If you want to make these even more fancy, brown the butter before throwing in the marshmallows. This will give these a beautiful buttery and caramel flavor that adults will love.

    Mix It Up
If you want to change these up, you can add a variety of different toppings and flavors. Sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, peanut butter chips or freeze dried strawberries are all great options to make these extra special.

How Do I Store Rice Krispie Treats?

If you are not eating the Rice Krispie treats right after you cut them, put them in an airtight container or wrap the serving platter with plastic wrap for up to 3 days, this will prevent them from getting dry and hard.

    Can I Freeze These Treats?

Yes! Rice Krispie Treats freeze great if you layer them with parchment paper in an airtight container. When you are ready to serve them, remove them from the freezer and allow them to sit out for one hour. These will stay fresh for up to 6 weeks.

How Do I Prevent These From Sticking To My Hand?

When you are pouring the treats into the pan, the best ways to keep this clean and stick free is to press the treats down with a piece of parchment paper. This is give you a very even spread with no mess.
